"This year the community once again got involved and donated some amazing dresses.The shopping days have always been a lot of fun for the girls, moms and their friends. Legislator lynne dixon is pleased to announce that she is once again partnering with urban valet dry cleaners and community sites to collect dresses for her 2012 prom dress drive.This is the third year that legislator dixon has organized the event to help local high school students find a free gown for their upcoming prom.Dresses will be collected from monday, march 12 through saturday, march 24. "The prom dress drive has really grown into a great community event.I can't thank the donors enough for helping our local students find a beautiful gown to wear to prom.For many, this event is the difference between having a dress or not for the big dance.I encourage anyone who has unwanted gowns in their closets to bring them to one of the dropoff locations that have generously agreed to collect dresses,"Legislator dixon said. Joe corto, a resident of hamburg, and a local barber at corto's salons and seasons spas used his 50+ years experience to his advantage as he soared above the competition to claim the top spot in the conservation and traditional styles competition. Contestants were judged on technique, precision, stage performance, and overall cut with a visible transformation of their model's hair being apparent.Joe's model, his brother dominic, owner of corto's, sported the winning look. The competition, which was hosted by major league barber and sponsored by andis, was open to all barbers for a $100 entry fee.
